On the Band wagon

This morning I warmed up on the treadmill, running 1 mile in a whopping 17 minutes and 11 seconds.  That's pretty embarrassing but I'm telling you, I hate to run and I'm not very good at it.  I followed up my run with several strength exercises utilizing the Thera-Band- a system of progressive exercise.  It's another alternative to the same old moves but incorporates a unique level of resistance to improve conditioning and build strength.  The set of bands come in five different colors which represent various levels of resistance and they are available in latex and latex-free.  I started with the red which is medium resistance and performed the following moves:

Shoulder Shrugs
Bicep curls
Bent Rows
Hip Adduction
Hip Abduction
Leg Press

I felt the effects of the bands right away and can already tell that it is challenging me, especially the hip abduction.  I was able to hit my rough spots in a new way.  They are easy to throw into your gym bag, use at home or on the road.  Having the bands, there really is no excuse not to get some strength training in when you're traveling.  The product is great, but the marketing sucks.  I had to giggle at this photo.  It just seems so silly...
